Martial Arts that use the Wooden Sword:

Tai Chi Chuan (Tai Chi) : In Tai Chi, the sword (often a wooden practice sword) is used to improve balance, coordination and fluidity of movement. There are specific forms of sword Tai Chi that emphasize control and internal energy.

Aikido : In Aikido, the wooden sword, called bokken, is used to learn the principles of movement and technique. Training with the bokken helps practitioners understand the correct distances and times in combat.

Kendo : Kendo is a Japanese martial art that simulates sword fighting. Although shinai (bamboo swords) are mainly used for fighting, bokken are used for kata (forms) practices.

Kenjutsu : This is the predecessor of Kendo and uses the bokken to practice traditional Japanese sword techniques. The bokken is essential for learning the movements without the risk of serious injury.

Iaido : Another Japanese martial art that focuses on drawing the sword and cutting in one fluid motion. Although practiced primarily with real swords (iaito), the bokken is used for some practices.

Hapkido : A Korean martial art that includes sword techniques among its many disciplines. Wooden swords are used for safe training.

Kung Fu : Several Kung Fu schools, especially those that teach internal styles such as Tai Chi or external styles such as Wing Chun, use wooden swords to practice sword forms and techniques.

These disciplines use the wooden sword not only to learn fighting techniques, but also to develop skills such as precision, concentration and spatial awareness, fundamental in martial arts.
